In 1992, I began researching the Compher family history. With help, encouragement and information from Clayton Compher, his sons, and Patricia Cates, just to name a few, I spent the next several years researching and compiling information.   

In 1999, I published a book with the results.

In 2009, I started a facebook family group page called "The Compher Family". Check it out and signup.

On a continuing basis, I add new information to this website.

As you browse through this site, you will see information missing. It might be a child's name or even a parent's or spouse's name. Many birth date and place, wedding date and place or date and place of death are missing. I would appreciate any help in filling in some of the blanks. As of October, 2011more than 11,000 family individuals are included. Because of the size some files take longer to download.

I also welcome comments or suggestions to improve this site. There will always be room for more stories and photos. These are the things that make a site interesting.

It has been great receiving information over the years that filled in missing information. One of the most recent was from Mary Frances Stone-Studyvin. Mary's 3rd great grandfather was Peter Adams whom married Abbelone Compher. For several years Mary had researched and gathered information on the Adams family, as I have the Compher family. Most of the information on Peter and Abblone and their descendants I received from Mary. Mary, thank you very much for sharing this information.

I have started to research my other grandparent's family. My father's mother, Bethel, my mother's father, Jenkins and my mother's mother , Rodda.
